I already know some of the basics of Japanese, for examle I can read Hiragana and Katakana (although kanji still escapes me at the moment) but I really want to be perfect at it before I go overseas!
I have a Japanese to English dictionary to improve my vocabulary, and I am using it to read some Japanese print manga that I bought when I last went to Sydney (I bought Sailor Moon).
My interests are really varied, however they generally are around things that people consider a bit nerdy (such as video games and stuff). I'm finding the manga a bit difficult because they use terms that I can't find in my dictionary (and online translation services are not very good, I have found) but I thought that if I was talking to a real person that they could help me with anything that confused me!
This is why I have thought to look for a Japanese Pen-Pal or E-Mail pal. It would be someone who I could make friends with, at the same time I was learning Japanese. If the other person wanted help with their English then I would be more than willing to help with that in return.
