I've just arrived in Sydney for a business trip, and also I have a friend who will be moving to Sydney (we're both from overseas) and we're both wondering what areas in Sydney have a lot going on (aside from tourist stuff). I'm in central right now, near Hyde Park -- a beautiful area, but it doesn't seem very lively, particularly after business hours. Which areas have things going on at night -- I don't necessarily mean just a bar/club scene -- just generally stores and restaurants that are open late, and people out and about. Where do you live and like to spend time?

hey everybody!!! i am a young american and i am planning on moving to australia in october. i had a few basic questions. i am really not sure where in the country i will move. i will be in the country for 12 months and would like to make the most out of my experience. basically i was looking for some advice on which area might be right for me. i would prefer to be as close to the ocean as possible, i am an avid surfer and i would like to surf as much as i can! i am thinking either about moving to sydney or the gold coast. my first question would be are the areas comparable in cost of living. is rent more expensive in either area? what are the job prospects like? i have a college degree but would not mind more casual work in order to free up my schedule a little. what about specific areas? i am sure there are many different suburbs of sydney. what are the communities like? i would prefer a more quite community as apposed to "party central". what about proximity to shops, jobs, and the ocean? i will most likely i will be purchasing a bike and not have much more in the way of transportation. what about communities in a sense of age? i am 23 and would like to meet other similar minds and people. are there communities that tend to have a more international makeup where i might find some people in similar shoes (travelers that is)? any help, hints, and insight are very greatly appreciated! i am extremely excited to be able to experience your amazing country and i can hardly imagine the amazing times i am sure to have!!!!!!

Hello everybody...

I'm a 23 year old university PhD student (studying Maths and Computer Science). In a couple of years time I would like my work to take me to Japan - but there is still a language barrier that I must overcome!
Because of this I'm trying to learn Japanese. I already know some of the basics (sentence structure, hiragana, katakana, etc) but there are some things like kanji, and my vocabulary that are not so good.

My interests are quite wide, however there are a lot of nerdy things that I like, so I bought some Japanese manga to try and learn from that. I am finding it quite difficult because they are meant for people who have been speaking Japanese for a large number of years, but I am still finding it quite fun. I bought Sailor Moon, so that I at least knew the basic story.

Then I thought that perhaps there was a Japanese speaking person who would like to be my PenPal (or E-Mail Pal) and that could help me learn Japanese because I would be using it so often. In return, if they needed the help (or just wanted it) I could help them improve their English!

Dear Friends!

It has been a long time desire of mine to join SOL (STATION OF LIFE) training. An Apostolic School of Renewal For Pastors, Missionaries and Lay Leaders. A Life Changing School That Will Bring You Back To God�s Ancient Ways and The Old Paths That Will Give You Rest. Jeremiah 6:16. When a close friend of mine told me about this training my heart jumps for joy, I really love to join because I want to be part of the intercessors for the nations. I have been earnestly praying for this training.

It is to this end that I�m writing to you. This coming July 1-16 2009 there will be SOL a 3 weeks school, 16-day school to train WATCHMEN AND INTERCESSORS for the nations. I want to be part of this nationwide intercession. We will have weeks of prayer and fasting.

I covet your prayers as I would be preparing to leave for Malaysia this coming July. I�m excited to be used by God to be a watchmen and an intercessor for the nation. Please pray for my financial needs. In order to leave, I need to raise Php 20,000 pesos or 450 USD to cover up for my needs including 2-way ticket and school fees.
