Parks and swimming pools are nearby and the cafe/restaurant district of Randwick isnt far away. Its about 30mins by bus to the City. If you like running then the eastern suburbs is a wonderful place to train.

The neighborhood is extremely quiet, has little traffic and is well served by public transportation (both subway and buses) and is very, very safe both at day and night. If needed there is a car service right at the corner that will bring you anywhere. In 30 minutes you are at JFK (airport), and can comfortably get from JFK to my house via public transportation for a grand total of $7.00.
