Our place is available for almost 3 months, from Oct 11th 2009 till Jan 6th 2010. We'd like to be in Sydney the first 8-9 weeks at least, but the exchange doesn't have to be for the whole period.

Our house:
Our 3400sq ft / 316 m2 modern house sits beautifully on a large lake in central South Carolina, with western sunset views and large water frontage. It's extremely private, on a 5-acre lot. The area is somewhat rural, yet only 25 min drive to a very pleasant university town, Columbia, with plenty of cultural life, great restaurants, nightlife, etc.
This exchange would probably be most interesting for someone looking for a base to explore the southeast of the US, as we are halfway between Washington DC and Miami. Or, for someone looking for a quiet and comfortable place in a pleasant climate to work on a book or similar. Roundtrip flights to most of the major cities including New York can be had for $115 - 200 (US dollars), and there are a lot of interesting places within driving distance. Especially Charleston, which is 90 min away. Both the mountains and the Atlantic beaches are only 2 hours away, and ocean temperatures are often swimmable till after Christmas. Our lake at that time will be too cold for swimming, but daytime temperatures are very comfortable (15-30�C), and kayaking and hiking and mountain biking are obvious activities for those months when it's not overly hot. There are beautiful walking trails right from the house - you can walk for a couple of hours without encountering anyone. This part of the lake is not very developed, so wildlife is very visible. If you'd wish to rent a boat to explore the lake further, that can be arranged.
Our house has all the amenities you�d expect and more. The kitchen is large and extremely well equipped (mostly Fisher & Paykel appliances.) There's a steam shower and an oversized tub in the master bathroom. Wireless internet, a grand piano, ample working space. 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Furnishings are tastefully modern with a European aesthetic, and uncluttered. Weekly or occasional affordable cleaning help can be arranged.
We have 3 friendly cats and some plants to take care of, but if you wouldn't be here the whole time, that's not a problem, as we have a backup plan for those.

About us:
We are both academics and have a very well behaved 7-year old girl who never breaks or stains anything. We'd be more than happy to take good care of your pets and plants, even a garden if you have one.
We are not expecting the same standard as what we have to offer in SC, a modest 1-2 bedroom apartment would be sufficient. Proximity to the University of Sydney would be a great plus, or at least within reasonable commuting time.

Our condominium is 3 floors, 1300 sq ft, 2 bedrooms + den, 2 bathrooms, sauna, gas fireplace, roof deck (not that you'll be wanting to use it in February in Vancouver), and two balconies. The condo has its own front and back entrances. Modern furnishings, recently remodelled kitchen with gas stove.

The main floor has only the front entry. Walk up to the second floor for the living room, dining room, kitchen, small bathroom (and sauna) and the guest bedroom/office. This bedroom has a double pullout futon couch. Walk up to the third floor for the master bedroom with a queen size futon bed, a full bathroom, washer/dryer, and den, currently used as a meditation room and office.

We are on a walkway with no traffic. 1 minute walk to the seawall around False Creek; 15 minute walk to Granville Island (public market, theatres, tourist area); 15 minute walk across the Cambie Bridge to BC Place, where the Olympic opening ceremonies will take place. 10 minute walk along the seawall to the Olympic Village (of course you won't be able to get near to it because of security). We are about an 8 minute walk to the Canada Line subway system which goes to the airport and to downtown.

We want to travel in Australia for 2-3 weeks in January, then stay at a nice house or apartment in Sydney or Brisbane for 3-4 weeks in February. If in Sydney, we want to be close to beaches or downtown. I'm a computer programmer so require reliable high-speed Internet access so I can work from your house/apartment.

This is a prime location for Olympic visitors, so we will require a $3,000 Cdn security deposit, all of which will be returned to you when we return to find a clean, undamaged house and happy neighbours. (If you wish a reciprocal deposit, we can arrange that.)

We are open to swapping vehicles. We have a 2006 Nissan XTrail, a mid-sized 4wd sport utility vehicle. We would like something we can use for weekend trips to explore Australia.

I'm looking to swap houses for October 7 - 22 2009 with someone in or near Penrith. I live in beautiful Victoria, BC Canada. Looking to get out of town during the World Masters Games? Come and stay in Victoria and enjoy our fall colors, gorgeous waterfront and quaint city streets. My 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom townhouse is close to a bike trail that takes you downtown in 10 minutes, or you can catch the bus 100m away and be downtown in 10. Or, you can use our car while you are here provided you have an international driver's license and a good driving record.

Non-smoking definitely. Families are welcome and will enjoy the area! We have no pets - allergies not a problem. The house is 2-storey so it is not wheelchair accessible.

We are looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment or house near the Penrith Lakes rowing complex. A car swap would be helpful, but if you are close to public transit then it's not necessary.
